Library Director
The Board of Trustees of Wheeler Library is seeking a full-time, hands-on Library Director for a
busy association library in North Stonington, CT, serving a close-knit community of
approximately 5200 residents. The library is the heartbeat of our town, offering a welcoming
space for patrons of all ages who are looking for great books, engaging programs, and a quick
chat with the staff.
The Library Director is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, and day-to-day
operations of the library. This is a hands-on role ideal for a community-minded professional who
can thrive in a small-town setting and is ready to wear many hats. Our ideal candidate will be
flexible, resourceful and independent, current on best practices in public libraries and skilled at
connecting with the community. The Director reports to the Board of Trustees, with responsibility
for administration, management, and advocacy for the library.
Wheeler Library is poised for an exciting future. The Board and staff are in the process of
applying for a CT State Library Construction Grant and expect to break ground on a multi-million
dollar restoration and renovation project of our historic century-old building in Spring 2026.
